On Friday, August 16, the Connecticut chapter of the National Association of Health Services Executives (N.A.H.S.E. CT) honored three hospital leaders “who have demonstrated remarkable innovation, trailblazing spirit, and exemplary leadership in transforming healthcare.”
Gina Calder of Hartford HealthCare, Valerie Powell-Stafford of Trinity Health Of New England, and Pamela Sutton-Wallace of Yale New Haven Health are the inaugural recipients of the N.A.H.S.E. Connecticut Founder’s Award. The organization praised the recipients for “their unwavering dedication and groundbreaking achievements.”
Calder, Powell-Stafford, and Sutton-Wallace were awarded during N.A.H.S.E. CT’s 6th Annual Healthcare Leaders Scholarship & Fundraising Dinner, where they also participated as panelists. The theme of this year’s event, which the Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA) proudly sponsored, was “Igniting Black Excellence in Healthcare.” The dinner celebrates the chapter’s accomplishments and the next generation of healthcare leadership. N.A.H.S.E. is a nonprofit association of Black healthcare executives founded in 1968 for the purpose of promoting the advancement and development of Black healthcare leaders and elevating the quality of healthcare services rendered to minority and underserved communities. The Connecticut chapter also provides educational scholarships to Connecticut students pursuing careers in healthcare management, administration, and related fields.
